Permaculture Fun(d)raising for East Africa

This morning I had a great chat with Annie Gaffney on the morning show of ABC Radio about my forthcoming journey to Uganda and Kenya –  26 days to go.

My daughter (12yo) and eldest son (10yo) are travelling with me. Annie and I chat about why we are going to East Africa, who we are working with, what we are doing there, and why I am asking for your help.

I have a big goal of raising $10K to take with us to give directly, 100%,  to local people doing local projects for local benefit. These are permaculture gardens and teacher training in schools and women’s self-help communities.

Goal $10k

Total raised so far $775

Please take a listen…around 10 minutes.

You can find out more about the programs we are volunteering with on the Ethos Foundation Website and also at https://kwaya.org/permaculture. We have partnered with Kwaya Australia, a registered charity working directly with the African Children’s Choir, because we are going to be helping them to design an edible food garden on their half acre primary school site.

I have recently relaunched the Ethos Foundation, which is now a donation-based organisation – from community to community.

Ethos directly supports the the permaculture education programs we are volunteering with around the world, and offers scholarship places to enable local leaders to attend permaculture teacher courses . The funds that Ethos collects and distributes are used 100% for the local projects and people. We cover our own expenses and volunteer our time – this is our permaculture community service work – fair share!

Here is the little film that Maia and I made last week.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. Today are shout outs for

  • Annie Gaffney of ABC Radio who welcomed me onto her morning show today
  • Frances Michaels of Green Harvest who has donated seeds
  • Amanda Hogg has donated the use of her house, her time and music for the fun(d)raising House Concert.
  • Hayden Hack, Jacinta Foale and Emma who have agreed to play at Jambo! Africa
  • Thanks too to everyone who has donated to the fund.
